Science Journey

Me and Zane built a boat in science using rubber bands to power our boat, Lucas N let us borrow some of his hard blue polystyrene, it was really good because it floated in water and it didn't fall apart so we started doing our plan. We had a thought that we could have three motors and a flag with deck chairs and a table. The blue polystyrene was very hard so it was difficult to cut with a craft knife so it took a while to get it cut out, when the last hole was getting cut out it snapped and when we were trying to fix it we came across a problem we covered up one of the little holes that we needed to put the rubber band through then the whole thing fell of and then there was no way to fix it so we had to rip some of the stuff off the we tried something different we used popsicles to make a rectangle for the motor then I attached it to the polystyrene while zane was making the propeller. Zane was making a flag for our boat so we could see which one was ours. We then started to make deck chairs and the table for the lego people that I brought as me and Zane. Once we finished the chairs we started to paint the boat, I drew a shark face on the front and flames on the side and we also painted red on the back and blue on the front and we also called the boat "AZ Titan" and we put our name on the side. and that was our Journey until the race...

Sphero

Before Lockdown in science we coded a sphero and we send it zooming around the class, we also learn to drive it but it's pretty hard because it went the opposite way. I thought it was hard to code because it's different to scratch because it had different blocks. I found it easy to connect to the robots, I also had a turn coding it in bubble school. 100 Meter Sprint

With Mr Barclay we wrote a narrative about a one hundred meter sprint in the Olympics, first I had trouble deciding what to write but when I got on a roll and it was easier to write. It was pretty easy to not get distracted while writing and I just found it fun to write about the topic. When I get home I'll have to put some mote in so you can listen to it.

Hot Number Challenge

Today I did this Hot Number Challenge, at first I got confused about how to do it, I thought you had to add  the numbers up to make the answer, but you only needed to use the numbers like 35 instead of 3+5. Do you think I did everything right comment if I did.

Lockdown Colouring

Today I finished a piece of colouring in that we could do at school, I found it relaxing to colour something during mindfulness and more throughout the day. I didn't find it challenging to put colour down because I just put it down in patterns. I really liked shading two and two together to make different colours, I think it brings out a tropical feel. What do you think I should have done differently?

Pop Art

today me and Carter went back in time and got our old pop arts and put them all in one slide. I found it hard to find the google drawings because I forgot what they were called. I enjoyed looking for backgrounds because they look so cool.

Homemade Cheese Burgers

Today we we were writing a descriptive piece of writing about our favorite food and I wrote about my Dads homemade cheese burgers. At first I found it hard to choose something to write about because I have heaps of favorite foods, but when I chose burgers it was heaps easier.

"Guess what we are having tonight for dinner Archie" Dad said. "What?" I replied. "Your favourite... burgers!" Dad said. "Yippy! When is it going to be ready?" I asked. "In about another 15 more minutes"  Dad.

 15 minutes later… "Here you go, enjoy," said Dad. Whoa that looks delicious I thought, and I was right because as soon as I took a bite, flavour exploded in my mouth, I could taste the bright red tomatoes, melted cheese and the perfectly cooked meat patty.

 Once I had finished I was full of delicious flavours swirling inside of me.  When Dad asked if I wanted pudding, I said "no thanks!"

Olympic

In reading this week we split into groups of four to chose a sport. My group chose soccer because most of us play it and we all know something about it. I found it challenging to find information about soccer because there were not too many sites.

Lemon Battery

In science today we made lemon batteries we made a small speck light but we needed a more supplies to make the light work properly. when we tested the vaults on the lemons it went right up to the '50s and then came back down a little bit into the '30's but for one reason the light still didn't work. We found it challenging to put the alligator clips in the right order but when we did the light worked a little bit better.

Tokyo Olympic Acrostic Poem

Today we created a acrostic poem about the tokyo olympics. I found it challenging to find words and sentences to go with the letters. I enjoyed finding words and realising they wouldn't go with the letter. It wasn't very challenging when it came to putting the word art in.

Olympic values medals

with some friends during week 1-2 we made 3 Olympic medals representing the Olympic values - first/excellence second/respect third/friendship. The most challenging sing to do was the polyline the the medals and to decide what details to put on them. before we did this we learnt about the Olympic values wich where Excellence, Respect and Friendship. to improve next time I'll make a more detailed podium. Should we add a background? 

The Egg Drop

In science today we learnt about the Egg Drop, what is wind but you have : a cup, plate, cardboard toilet roll and an egg. Fill the cup with water then put the plate over the cup and then on top of the plate put the toilet roll and the egg on the very top.

Hit the plate but don't apply to much force when you hit it or the egg will go flying across the room, but if you do it right the egg should fall into the water.

How it works - Newton's First Law, once the egg was moving, it didn't want to stop. The container of water interrupted the egg's fall, providing a safe place for the egg to stop moving so you could recover it unbroken. The gravity-pushed egg caused the water to splash out.

M&M Stacking

We were learning to stack M&Ms to break the world record of 5 M&Ms but no one could only vinny and tyran could get 3.

I found it hard to find the right M&Ms to stack with. 

I found it easy to have fun getting 2 and watching it fall over when I try to get 3.

Next time i will get a high score of 3-4 or maybe a 6 M&Ms.

The Coin Drop

An object at rest stays at rest and object in motion stays in motion with same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced/outside force. The law of inertia and gravity work on the coins, the law states that an object at rest will stay at rest unless an opposing force is acted upon it.

Natural Disaster Survival Kit

We were learning to make a survival kit for a natural disaster to help people survive the disaster and its dangers.

I found it easy to make the first aid kit with the shapes and that's the same with radio and I also liked doing all the word art.

I found it hard to polyline the torch for some reason because I just couldn't get it right.

Next time I will add more stuff so you have a better chance of surviving the natural disaster you come up against.

Cold Air Balloon

We were Learning to make a cold air balloon, to make it all we needed to do was get a table spoon of baking soda and put it into the balloon and put a half a cup of vinegar into the bottle and carefully fit the balloon over the neck of the bottle and let the baking soda fall into the vinegar and then watch the balloon inflate.

I found it easy to understand the science behind the experiment.

I found it hard to wait to the next time we do the experiment because we are going to try blow the balloon up!!!

Next time I will try do it at home and at some friends houses as well.

How it works, when vinegar and baking soda mix, an endothermic reaction occurs. This produces carbon dioxide which inflates the balloon. The endothermic chemical reaction will also lower the temperature in the area surrounding the vinegar and baking soda so significantly that you will be able to easily notice the change in temperature.

Balloon Rocket

We were learning to make a balloon rocket to fly down a piece of string.

I found it easy to tape the balloon onto the string fly to the other person.

I found it hard to hold the end of the string because it keeps on slipping out of my hand.

Next time I will try doing it with a different type of balloon or I could do a different type of string.

How it works, our rocket blast balloon demonstrates Newton’s Third Law of Motion: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When we release the balloon, the pressurized air in the balloon pushes against the air around the balloon sending it in the opposite direction down the string.

Should Or SHouldn't We Be Prepared For A Natural Disaster

 We were learning to write a piece of persuasive writing about, "is it important to be prepared for a natural disaster."

I found it easy to find the facts to help me to structure my writing because our teacher linked some sites that we could use, we could also find our information ourself.

I found it hard to find the right words to use to describe my reasons about my piece of writing.

Next time I will try use more connectives to improve my writing skills.

Milk Explosion

I found it easy to push lightly down with this soap on the cotton bud down on the milk to make the colours spread out.

I found it hard to not spill the milk onto the carpet so it didn't stain.

next time I will use a different type of milk and see if it has the same reaction.

What happened was, Milk is mostly water, but it also contains vitamins, minerals, proteins, and tiny droplets of fat suspended in solution. Fats and proteins are sensitive to changes in the surrounding solution (the milk).

Volcano Eruption Animation

we were learning to create a animation about a volcanic eruption, I used polyline for drawing everything except the clouds because I used shapes instead.

I found it hard to make the fire coming out of the volcano because it always had a line through the middle so that was to hard to fix.

I found it easy to make the volcano and the lines to make it better.

next time I will make a shield volcano and the eruption will be different.
